Local author shares with kids

Local children's author Tracy McMillin Satterfield presented a reading and held a book signing for her new book Piper Jane Bubblegum Blunder at the Greene County Public Library this week.

Several other events are scheduled at the library throughout the rest of March and early April.

On Monday, March 25, local author John T. Wayne will present a signing of his western novels at the library, which is located at 120 N. 12th St. The signing will be held from 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Wayne's works include: Blood Once Spilled; Captain Grimes, Catfish John; Ol' Slantface; Showdown at Scatter Creek; and The Treasure Del Diablo. All proceeds from book sales will be donated to the U.S. Marshals Museum in Ft. Smith.

On Wednesday, March 27, the Park Interpreter from Crowley's Ridge State Park will hold a Gourd Crafting Workshop at the library from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. A fee of $20 covers materials. Call the library at (870) 236-8711 to register. Class size is limited to 10.

Sherry Varvil will teach stained glass classes starting Friday, March 29, at the library. Classes will continue each Friday until April 26 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Students will learn the basics of creating their own stained-glass piece to take home. The cost of $40 covers materials. Class size is limited to six. Call the library to register.

The Crowley's Ridge Park Interpreter will return to the library on April 10 and 17 from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. for a Gourd Easter Basket Workshop. A fee of $25 will cover the cost of materials. Class size is limited to eight. Call the library to register.
