Top: “Out of an abundance of caution, Hunt Street Hill has been closed,” said a Facebook post from the Paragould Police Department. Mayor Josh Agee closed the street between Sixth and Seventh Streets on Monday, and Paragould Police Public Information Officer Capt. Brad Snyder said it would likely remain closed at least through Wednesday’s snow and possibly into Thursday.
RIGHT: This week is by no means the first time the street has been closed because of snow and ice. This picture, taken by Ron Farrell from 1973, shows that while vehicles were at a disadvantage on the street, kids on sleds made the most of what amounted to a sled ramp.
