The cold and snow have forced several changes in what the City of Paragould will be doing for the next few days.
For one thing, trash collection has been suspended until further notice.
“The roads are still too bad,” said Deputy Director of Public Works Wayne Ellenburg Tuesday morning, “and we have this next storm coming in Wednesday and Thursday, so we can’t say when we will be able to resume.”
For another, heating problems in City Hall has forced its closure from 4:30 p.m. Tuesday until Monday, Feb. 22.
“We are having major heating issues throughout the building and many offices are 50 degrees,” said Paragould Mayor Josh Agee in an e-mail. “With the heating issues and the impending inclement weather, I have made the decision to close city hall today [Feb. 16] at 4:30.”
In addition, the mayor has rescheduled the Feb. 22 meeting of the Paragould City Council to Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.
“I would cancel the meeting, but we have to pass the amended budget before March 1,” he said.
Agee added the Feb. 25 meeting would be “short and sweet” with the amended budget being the only thing on the agenda.
