The Paragould City Council has unanimously adopted an ordinance to accept Paragould Medical Park Drive for city maintenance.

“This came about when we ... had some doctors that are wanting to build a clinic out there,” said Paragould Mayor Josh Agee to open discussion on the ordinance last week. “Right now that road is a private drive.”

Noting that the city should already have accepted the road for city maintenance, he acknowledged the matter “fell through the cracks.” Agee added that the Street Department had already done its final inspection on the road and that it had held up well. “They went out and looked at it this week just to make sure everything was still holding up well,” he said. “So this is just a formality.”

The council also adopted an ordinance to rezone a 0.87-acre tract of land at 3211 W. Kingshighway from Residential R-1 to Commercial C-1. “The Planning and Zoning [Commission] met on Nov. 4,” Agee said, “and there was no one in opposition.” According to the minutes of the meeting, the owners (Charles Partlow Revocable Trust) want to put a food truck on the property.

The council also adopted a resolution to attach liens to eight properties, which required cleanup (grass cut, trash removed, etc.). Since the listed owners had not performed the cleanup as requested by the city, the city undertook the cleanup itself, and the resolution attached the liens to cover the city cleanup cost. Listed by last known owner, address and lien amount, the properties are:

Jep Enterprises LLC, 2800 Canterbury, for $113.14

Jacob & Brandi Shaffer, 902 S. Third Ave., for $74.14

Greater Swiss, 904 S. Third Ave., for $74.14

Wilma Fears, 413 E. Garland St., for $74.14
