The city of Paragould is paving the way for the summer’s Downtown After Hours events.
By an 8-0 vote at the April 26 meeting of the Paragould City Council, it adopted a resolution to close the 100 South block of Pruett Street from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. as needed for the scheduled monthly event on May 14, June 11, July 9 and Aug. 13.
“It’s the second Friday of each of those months,” said Main Street Paragould Executive Director Gina Jarrett on Wednesday. “We hear people saying: ‘there’s nothing to do in Paragould,’ so we’re giving them something to do.”
According to information available at Main Street Paragould’s Facebook page, the monthly summer event will feature live music, later shopping hours, and adult libations.
“And we hope to have downtown restaurants available to serve customers,” Jarrett said.
Musical performers at Downtown After Hours will include:
Everyday Life on May 14
The Happy Campers on June 11
Shotgunbillys on July 9
The Spencer Herren Band on Aug. 13
The musicians will perform in the parking lot at the corner of Pruett and Court Streets.
“And in May we’ll have Trick-E, the balloon artist, for the kids.” Jarrett said. She added other similar entertainers for subsequent Downtown After Hours events would be announced as they become available.
