The confirmation of a case of COVID-19 has forced the postponement of two major events at the Paragould Community Center.
First, the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet has been postponed from its scheduled date of April 7.
“It’s been postponed until further notice,” said Chamber communications specialist Levi Brandon.
The event, with a silent auction starting at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m., was to have featured Mike Preston, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.
The other event postponed is the Lincoln Day dinner on April 9.
“It’s been rescheduled until we can get a place,” said Lincoln Day committee chair Brinda Gore. The original plan was for it to be at the Community Center, with a silent auction to take place starting at 5:30 p.m. along with a “meet and greet” with featured speaker Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Sanders, daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, was previously White House press secretary for President Donald Trump.
Gore said Tuesday that, whenever and wherever the new place and date for the dinner is, Sanders will still be the featured speaker. “She has agreed to be there,” Gore said.
