The state Crime Laboratory has identified remains discovered in Oak Grove Heights on Sept. 5.
According to information made available by the Greene County Sheriff’s department, they belong to Dale W. Jackson, 38, of Paragould.
As previously reported, deputies were dispatched to Lee Street in Oak Grove regarding the discovery of possible human remains on that date.
“Greene County Sheriff Steve Franks said at the time that an individual mowing his yard had seen something white in the woods near the tree line.
The individual went to investigate, saw that the white object appeared to be skeletal remains, and called 911, Franks said.
Upon the deputy’s arrival the caller led him to a small overgrown area behind the residence. At that point, the deputy determined that the remains did appear to be human. Franks said deputies had found shorts, shoes and bones but no identification.
According to information made available by jail administrator Brent Cox, the Crime Lab made the identification through the individual’s DNA.
“The investigation is ongoing and currently awaiting the toxicology report to be completed by the Arkansas State Crime Lab,” Cox said. “We will continue to update the public as the investigation continues to unfold.”
