A Marmaduke man sits in jail after allegedly choking his wife.
Greene County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nathan Allen Mooneyhan, 34, on a charge of one count of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit sworn by Detective Capt. Tony Williams, the arrest took place Oct. 17 after deputies had responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Marmaduke. After they arrived, they made contact with both Mooneyhan and his wife, the alleged victim. She reportedly told them her husband had choked her to the point that she could not breathe and told her “scream now, no one will hear you.” The victim also had marks on her face and neck, according to Williams’ affidavit.
After deputies transported Mooneyhan to the sheriff’s department for an interview in the Criminal Investigation Division, they advised him of his rights to remain silent and to have an attorney present when being questioned. Once they did so Mooneyhan reportedly admitted to investigators that he did choke his wife during the altercation.
He remains in the Greene County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
