With Election Day a little over two weeks from now, voters can now cast ballots in Greene County and in the state of Arkansas as early voting began Monday.
Greene County Clerk Phyllis Rhynes said early voting has gone good so far in the county. According to published reports, the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office expects about 900,000 Arkansans to cast ballots between now and Nov. 8 with federal, state, legislative, county, city and school board races on the ballot.
Rhynes agreed that the numbers to vote statewide could be between 50 and 55 percent of the state’s nearly 1.7 million registered voters, which is about normal for an off-year election.
As for Greene County, Rhynes reminded voters to make sure they have their identification before heading to the polls and encouraged them to participate in the process.
Early voting started Monday and goes until Nov. 7. at the Greene County Fairgrounds Commercial Building.
The polls for early voting will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 7.
