A Paragould man is facing multiple felonies after police said he hit a woman in the head with a baseball bat.
Akious Howard, 21, of Paragould was arrested Oct. 24 on suspicion of residential burglary, battery in the second degree and aggravated assault in connection with the case.
Paragould police said in a probable cause affidavit that officers went to a home around 3:50 a.m. Oct. 24 after getting a call about an altercation with a weapon.
Officers spoke with several witnesses, who said Howard had gone into the house with the baseball bat.
Police said the witnesses were able to get Howard out of the house and that the witnesses were trying to get Howard to leave, when he swung the bat and hit the woman, who suffered injuries.
Detectives later spoke with Howard, who waived his Miranda rights, police said. Howard told police that he “entered the residence with a baseball bat with ill intent” and admitted hitting to woman with the bat.
Howard was being held Wednesday in the Greene County Jail, with a bond to be set in court after a review by Mid-South evaluation.
