Paragould police recently made several arrests resulting in numerous felony drug charges.
In one incident, they arrested Terry Lee Davis, 33, of Bloomfield, Mo., on charges of one count each of possession with purpose to deliver between two and 10 grams of methamphetamine or cocaine; possession with purpose to deliver between two and 28 grams of a Schedule I/II controlled substance (excluding methamphetamine and cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture, etc. methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, or cocaine, each a Class B felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia to ingest, etc. methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, or cocaine, a Class D felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit sworn by Detective Cpl. Jason Boling of the department’s Street Crimes Unit (SCU), the arrest took place May 28, after police Cpl. Sam Yates received a call regarding a man reportedly sleeping in a vehicle at Kum and Go on Linwood Drive. Yates located the vehicle and noticed a man (later identified as Davis) sitting in the driver’s seat asleep. As Yates attempted to wake him, he noticed a loaded syringe on the dash of the vehicle. Yates had Davis exit the vehicle and took him into custody. As he searched the vehicle, Yates located 3.8 grams of methamphetamine in a small zip lock baggie, several unused small baggies, and 5.9 gram of Hysingla pills, a Schedule II controlled substance.
Davis remains in the Greene County Detention Center (GCDC) awaiting a bond hearing.
In another incident, they arrested Brandon Alex Lamar, 25, of Paragould; and Jessica Lee Lamar, 25, of Rector, each on a charge of one count of possession of between two and 10 grams of methamphetamine or cocaine with the purpose to deliver, a Class B felony; and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia to ingest, etc., a Class D felony; plus misdemeanor charges.
According to other probable cause affidavits sworn by Boling, the arrests took place May 30 after police Cpl. T.J. Underwood, on patrol on Morgan Street near West View Baptist Church, noticed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Morgan, with a backup light that was continuously on as the vehicle was traveling forward. He made a traffic stop on the vehicle for an equipment violation. Underwood learned the driver, Jessica Lamar, had an absconder warrant with the board of parole, and that she also had a search waiver on file. The passenger of the vehicle, Brandon Lamar had a full extradition warrant out of Colorado and is also on probation, also with a search waiver on file.
After taking both occupants into custody, officers did a search of the vehicle. They located 8.5 grams of methamphetamine, 3.7 grams of marijuana, and three glass pipes, according to the affidavit. Both occupants of the vehicle denied ownership of the items, but the items were all located in reach of both occupants.
Jessica Lamar is being held in the GCDC on $25,000 bond. Brandon Lamar is being held there awaiting a bond hearing.
Also on the 30th, police arrested Dustin Michael Bushee, 41, of Paragould, on a charge of one count of possession of less than two grams of a Schedule I/II controlled substance (methamphetamine or cocaine) plus misdemeanor charges. According to a probable cause affidavit sworn by Detective Cpl. Aaron Gamber of the SCH, the arrest took place abut 3:30 a.m. as Bushee was flailing his arms to flag down police as he was walking near the Dodge Store on West Kingshighway.
During the encounter, Bushee removed 0.8 grams of methamphetamine from his cigarette pack and handed it to police, according to the affidavit. But as police attempted to arrest him, he refused verbal commands, began pulling away and then lay on his hands to prevent being handcuffed. However, officers soon handcuffed Bushee and took him to the GCDC without further incident. He is being held there awaiting a bond hearing.
