Police have arrested a Paragould man for having sexual contact with an underage person.
They arrested Leon Jackson, 37, on a charge of second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit sworn by Detective Lt. Rhonda Thomas of the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, the arrest occurred Oct. 8 as the result of investigation of an Oct. 7 report alleging Jackson had engaged in sexual contact with an underage person.
The investigation included an interview with the alleged victim, who gave details of sexual contact that fit the definition of second-degree sexual assault as specified in section 5-4-125 of the Arkansas Code, Annotated. She also reportedly named Jackson as the person who had undertaken the sexual assault. In addition, according to the affidavit, a witness who was interviewed provided details that corroborated the victim’s account of events.
Jackson remains in the Greene County Detention Center on $100,000 bond, conditioned on having no contact with the victim or any witnesses to the matter.
