Paragould Police officers have arrested a Paragould man on rape charges.
They arrested Zachary Gean Davis, 22, on a charge of one count of rape, a Class Y felony. According to a probable cause affidavit sworn by Detective Cpl. Tron Beesley, the arrest followed investigation of a referral to the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline on Aug. 29, 2019. In the referral, a 13-year-old girl disclosed alleged sex acts involving a 21-year-old man, later identified as Davis. An interview with the girl resulted in disclosure of acts that fit the definition of rape as described in section 5-14-103 of the Arkansas Code, Annotated.
In the course of the investigation, according to Beesley’s affidavit, the investigators collected additional evidence that corroborated the victim’s statement and implicating Davis.
According to information made available by Greene County jail administrator Brent Cox, he was booked into the Greene County Detention Center at 8:53 p.m. on July 23. Bond has not yet been set for Davis as of press time. He is scheduled to appear in Greene County District Court on Monday, July 27.
