Debra Lynn “Little Debbie” Bales, 59, of Paragould, passed away Sept. 13, 2021, at the Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro.

She was born Aug. 23, 1962, in Anderson, Ind., to Gerald and Nina Taylor. She was of the Baptist faith. Just nine days before her passing, she surrendered to the Lord, repented of her sins and was baptized in Jesus’ name. She loved reading, watching movies and collecting Titanic memorabilia.

Debra was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kelly Bales; her father, Gerald Taylor; stepfather, Lawrence Reddick; and her grandparents, Myrtle and Alvin Barry.

Survivors include her mother, Nina Reddick; her son, Eric Canady; her daughter, Andrea Hooks (Jason) of Salem; her sisters, Marilyn Emmons (Steve) of Elizabeth and Sonya Nelson (Carl) of Paragould; grandchildren, Jacob Hooks and Conner Hooks, both of Salem; her nieces, Hannah Emmons of Jonesboro and Hailey Nelson of Paragould; nephew, Joshua Nelson of Paragould; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Greater Vision Church on Sunday, Sept. 19. The family will welcome friends at 2 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Brother Richard Ethridge officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home will be in charge.
