Mildred Turner, 77, of Peach Orchard, passed away Jan. 5, 2021, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Turner was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Peach Orchard. She was retired from St. Anthony Hospital in Illinois and from the City of Peach Orchard, where she served as City Clerk. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved spending time with her family. She was of the Baptist faith.

On May 12,1961, she married Burnis Turner. They were married 59 years prior to her death. Other survivors include her children, Burnis (Penny) Turner of LaValle, Wis., Vardman Lee (Shelly) Turner of Rockton, Ill., Verda Ellen (Richard) Barclay of South Beloit, Ill., and Carrie Ann (John Gilbee) Turner of Paragould; brothers, Thomas “Pug” Cray Jr. of Fenton, Mo., and Harold Leon Cray of Benton Harbor, Mich.; sisters, Dorothy Lyons of Cedar Hill, Mo., and Kathy Johnson of Interlochen, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Huey and Orchis Ellen (Bassett) Cray; brother, Dennis Cray; and sister, Patricia Varney.

Graveside funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pirtle Cemetery in Peach Orchard. Ermert Funeral Home in Corning has charge of arrangements.
