Ina Sue Lands, 88, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Missouri, to Ray and Beryl (Branum) Holmes. Sue was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ. She worked at AMMC in the cafeteria as a cook in the 1990s. She was a cook at Johnny’s Drive-In in the 1960’s. Sue lived at Sunshine Manor since 2017. She loved living there and made many new friends. All the workers there were great to her and took good care of her. Sue loved all the caregivers. She was a caregiver for many elderly people, it was what she loved to do and she will be greatly missed.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Odis Griggs and Taylor Lands; son, James Griggs; brothers, Lowell, Jim and Glen Holmes; brother-in-law, Charles Sides; and son-in-law, Rick Valentine.

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Valentine and Teresa Rogers (Scotty); sons, Larry Griggs (Vicki) of Paragould, and Roger Griggs of North Carolina; sisters, Alice Sides and Bernita Abbey (Louis) of Flint, Mich.; brother, Pete Holmes of Flint, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 11 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at noon with Rev. Wilburn Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Knott Cemetery.

Lasting memorials may be made to the Children’s Homes, American Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis.
