When I was a child we chopped cotton. Sometimes morning glory vines crept in, wrapped themselves around the cotton. Daddy told us not to pull them out but find the root, clip it with our hoes, and it would die.
Our nation is experiencing that today. Evil has wrapped itself around our nation squeezing the good from it. We have been made to believe a lie. Some of our leaders are contributing to this carnage. Some hide in fear in the bushes, others are taking bribes in the dark, some just don’t care as they are busy writing books or bills they want recognition for. Our congress and senate are too busy fighting and competing with each other to fight for us. But some love America and seek solutions to this carnage.
What started as a peaceful protest for a just cause was consumed by an evil force determined to destroy our great nation. Some person or group is fueling these anarchists and terrorists (under the shadow of freedom of speech). These are the roots and they need to be exposed and removed.
Freedom of speech is not stifling one side’s opinion, burning our national flag, looting, burning people’s property. These are the adversaries that crept in unaware. Turning evil into good (upside down).
I wouldn’t have been able to sit on my freedom of speech if I had done these things. What happened to accountability? There is none unless you’re a patriot then you’re slammed. What example are we setting for our children and grandbabies? We try to teach them right from wrong. How can they tell the difference in today’s society?
We need some Davids and Joshuas in our government and nation to stand up to the giants on the battlefield like our great soldiers around the world risking and sometimes giving their lives for us and freedom. Maybe they need to come home and protect their families from the evil here.
We need to sharpen our hoes against those who hate America and seek their own agenda against us.
Our livelihood depended upon our cotton crop. Our existence as a nation depends upon us calling out our leaders. If they don’t want or are afraid to step out on the field of battle, then leave. We’ll find someone who is not afraid of getting burned from the heat.
When we looked down the clean row we sat and drank cool water while Daddy refiled our hoes. Yes, sometimes those pesky critters try to creep in again. When we stand together as one nation, under God, one people, one family with an unbreakable bond we can keep the invaders out. I love my country. I believe its goodness, seasoned with God’s grace is worth fighting for. Have you sharpened your hoe?
