Brookland 73, Trumann 42

TRUMANN – Brookland built a 12-point lead in the first quarter Thursday and went on to defeat Trumann 73-42 in 4A-3 senior boys’ basketball.

The Bearcats (10-3, 5-1 conference) led 15-3 after the first quarter. After leading 28-16 at halftime, Brookland extended its lead to 52-31 at the end of the third quarter.

David York scored 23 points to lead Brookland, followed by Jackson Ballard with 13 and Cole Doke with 12. Devin Miles scored 10 points for Trumann.

Brookland (11-4, 5-1) won the junior boys’ game 47-42 as Cole Kirby scored 23 points and Ben Jackson added 11. Brookland also won the seventh-grade game 44-26.

Marion 53, GCT 43

MARION – Marion opened a double-digit lead in the third quarter Friday and went on to defeat Greene County Tech 53-43 in 5A-East senior boys’ basketball.

The Patriots led 16-13 after the first quarter, 24-21 at halftime and 35-25 after three quarters.

Riverside 56, Marmaduke 37

MARMADUKE – Riverside built a 20-point halftime lead Thursday and went on to defeat Marmaduke 56-37 in 2A-3 senior boys’ basketball.

The Rebels (10-9, 5-2 conference) led 20-6 after the first quarter and 37-17 at halftime. M.J. Wilkinson scored 20 points and Brennen Laird added 14 for Riverside.

Hunter Tuberville scored nine points and Andy Agee added eight for Marmaduke.

Riverside (13-3, 4-3) won the junior boys’ game 30-23 as Thatcher Durham scored 12 points. Tucker Emery poured in 24 points in the seventh-grade game as Riverside won 44-12.

GCT 42, Annie Camp 39

JONESBORO – Greene County Tech defeated Annie Camp 42-39 Thursday in junior boys’ basketball.

Parker Harris and Landon Stuart scored eight points each for GCT.

Girls basketball

Brookland 64, Trumann 48

BROOKLAND – Brookland built a 16-point halftime lead Friday and went on to defeat Trumann 64-48 in 4A-3 senior girls’ basketball.

A.J. Allen scored nine of her 13 points in the first quarter to help the Lady Bearcats (8-4, 6-0 conference) take a 15-7 lead. Faith Champlin sank two 3-pointers in the second quarter as Brookland took a 34-18 halftime lead.

Hannah Boling led Brookland with 13 points. Champlin added 10 and Gracie Gramling finished with nine.

Hannah McClaughlin scored 13 points and Christina Jean-Paul added 10 for Trumann.

Brookland (13-0, 5-0) won the junior girls’ game 54-18. Kinsey Clark made five 3-pointers and scored all 23 of her points in the first half to lead Brookland, followed by Maddie Wooldridge with 12 points. Chelsea Jones scored 10 points for Trumann.

Brookland won the seventh-grade game 18-11.

GCT 51, Marion 46

MARION – Greene County Tech defeated Marion 51-46 in 5A-East senior girls’ basketball Friday.

The Lady Eagles improved to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in the 5A-East.

Marmaduke 66, Riverside 25

MARMADUKE – Marmaduke kept its 2A-3 conference record perfect Friday night with a 66-25 rout of Riverside in senior girls’ basketball.

The Lady Greyhounds (19-4, 8-0 conference) made 11 of their 12 3-pointers in the first half while building a 44-14 lead.

Heidi Robinson and Carolina Hoffman scored 16 points each for Marmaduke, followed by Chancey Henry with 15 points and Zoe Massey with 14. Henry was 5-of-5 from the 3-point line in the first half and Massey connected for four 3s.

Kalli Blocker scored seven points for Riverside (9-9, 4-3).

Makenzie Hampton scored 19 points, Ava Anthony 12 and Loren Michael 10 as Marmaduke (16-5, 8-0) won the junior high game 44-26.
