Eagles fall to Blazers in OT

JONESBORO — Connor Tinsley’s layup in overtime Monday night lifted Valley View to a 51-50 overtime victory over Greene County Tech in senior boys’ basketball at Blazer Arena.

Tinsley’s basket was the only field goal in overtime for either side.

The teams finished in a 49-49 tie to end regulation after Valley View’s Parker St. Pierre drilled a 3-pointer with about 12 seconds remaining in the game, capping the Blazers’ rally from a 16-point deficit.

CJ Delancy finished with 22 points to lead Valley View (6-4). Delancy scored the first 18 points for the Blazers, including all 12 in a first quarter that ended with the Eagles (8-2) leading 15-12.

Tinsley added 14 points for Valley View.

Jayke Bolen scored 13 points and Jared Noel added 10 for GCT. Benji Goodman sank two 3s in a first half that ended with the Eagles leading 23-20. GCT extended its lead to 43-27 at the end of the third quarter.

GCT won the junior high game 34-30, led by Landon Stewart with 10 points and Parker Harris with eight. Oliver Barr scored 14 points and Carson Turley added seven for Valley View.

Valley View won the seventh-grade game 28-26.

Marion 64, Brookland 44

MARION – Marion improved to 7-0 on the season Monday with a 64-44 victory over Brookland in senior boys’ basketball.

Landon Hendrix scored 15 points and Jackson Ballard added 10 for the Bearcats (7-2).

Brookland 43, Pocahontas 21

BROOKLAND — Brookland took control in the second half Monday to defeat Pocahontas 43-21 in 4A-3 conference senior girls’ basketball.

The Lady Bearcats (4-3, 3-0 conference) outscored the Lady Redskins 28-11 in the final two quarters. Brookland led 15-10 at halftime.

Hannah Boling scored 18 points and A.J. Allen added 11 for Brookland.

Brookland (9-0, 2-0 conference) won the junior girls’ game 52-38. Kinsey Clark scored 16 points, Maddie Wooldridge 13 and Chaney Gallion 10 to lead Brookland.

Brookland also won the senior B game.

Valley View 39, Paragould 35

JONESBORO — Valley View defeated Paragould 39-35 in junior boys’ basketball Tuesday.

Brian Huff scored 10 points and Carson Turley added eight for Valley View (9-3).

Valley View won the seventh-grade game 44-18.
