Crowley’s Ridge College freshman Emi Elms has been recognized as the recipient of the Association of Independent Institutions Volleyball Player of the Week award for the final week of the fall portion of the 2020-21 season.
Elms recorded a season-high 16 kills in a five-set loss at Williams Baptist (Ark.) University last Thursday. She also led the Pioneers with six blocks and two serving aces in the match.
The middle blocker from Paragould led the team this fall with 30 blocks while being tied for team-high honors with 128 kills.
Head coach Carissa Winn spoke glowingly of how Elms has played against tough competition.
“As a freshman, Emi has come out of the gate strong for us the first half of this season and she does a great job of helping lead her team,” Winn said.
This marks the second time this season that Elms has been honored as player of the week, the first being the week ending Oct. 12.
CRC volleyball has completed play for the fall. They will re-take the court in the spring for conference play ending with the A.I.I. Tournament and the NAIA Championships.
