Bested by the Central Baptist (Ark.) College Mustangs, CRC fell in three sets 10-25, 9-25, 20-25.
Crowley’s Ridge (6-12, 1-3 CAC) stayed within two points by trailing 4-6, but the Mustangs rattled off 10 points out of the next 12 rallies. Unable to regain momentum, CRC fell in the opening set 25-10. The hosting Mustangs hit a 48 percent attack rating by tallying 13 kills to a single error.
Central Baptist (8-7, 2-1 AMC) continued their clean play into the second set going on a 5-0 run early in the set to take a 12-6 advantage before another 5-0 run late vaulted them to a 25-9 set victory.
Determined to force a fourth set, the Lady Pioneers saved their best for last when Hannah Halverson’s back-to-back kills pulled the green and black within one point by trailing 16-15. The valiant push fell short of sending the squads to a fourth set as the Mustangs capped off the night with a 25-20 victory.
Halverson led the Lady ‘Neers with seven kills and as many digs. Kaitlyn Perkins continued her solid back row play with a 17 dig night.
Crowley’s Ridge will look to break the losing spell by hosting the LeMoyne-Owen College Magicians on Tuesday, Oct. 19. The match is scheduled to begin at the Carter Activities Center at 6 p.m.
