RECTOR — Heidi Robinson’s 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted Marmaduke to its fifth victory in eight days, 50-47 over Rector in 2A-3 conference senior girls’ basketball Monday.
Rector, which led by 15 points in the third quarter, tied the game on a free throw with 5.5 seconds remaining. The Lady Cougars missed the second free throw and Robinson dribbled into the front court to launch the winning shot.
Robinson finished with 22 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter, and Carolina Hoffman added 15 points for the Lady Greyhounds (11-3, 4-0 conference). Morgan Garner scored 13 points and Madison Wolfenbarger added 12 for Rector (6-5, 3-1 conference).
Rector led 14-9 after the first quarter and 26-15 at halftime. Marmaduke cut its deficit to 34-32 at the end of the third quarter.
Marmaduke defeated England 66-34 on Saturday, led by Hoffman with 23 points and Robinson with eight points, seven rebounds and 10 assists. Robinson scored 19 points and Hoffman 15 in Friday’s 51-39 victory at Earle, while Robinson and Baylie Joiner scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, in a 45-17 victory at Riverside last Wednesday.
Marmaduke (12-2, 4-0 conference) defeated Rector 46-41 in junior girls’ basketball Monday as Makenzie Hampton scored 30 points. Hampton scored 27 points and Justis Joiner 12 on Saturday in a 48-45 victory over England, a day after Hampton scored 28 and Joiner 18 in a 57-25 rout of Earle.
