Paragould 52, Batesville 42

PARAGOULD — Paragould erased a seven-point halftime deficit Saturday to defeat Batesville 52-42 in senior girls’ basketball at the First National Bank Shootout.

Batesville led 25-18 at halftime after outscoring Paragould 19-10 in the second quarter. The Lady Rams regained the lead in the third quarter, taking a 34-33 edge into the final period, and controlled the fourth as well.

Keimauri Brown scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half to lead Paragould (6-1). Sam Wood added nine points on three 3-pointers in the third quarter. Carson DeFries, Mikayla Lambert and Shakira Brown contributed seven points each for Paragould.

Taylor Rush scored a game-high 18 points for Batesville (4-4). Emily Harrison added 11 points for the Lady Pioneers.

GCT 65, Brookland 31

PARAGOULD — Greene County Tech cruised past Brookland 65-31 Saturday in senior girls’ basketball at the First National Bank Shootout.

Kylie Stokes scored 14 points to lead the Lady Eagles (6-2). Rylee Branch added 10 points; Sierrah Floyd scored nine points on three of GCT’s 12 3-point baskets; and Ava Carter chipped in with eight points.

GCT led 16-9 after the first quarter and broke the game open in the second, outscoring Brookland 17-3 to build a 33-12 halftime lead. The Lady Eagles led 51-24 at the end of the third quarter.

Kinsey Clark scored nine points on three 3s for Brookland.

ASU 82, MVS 77

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — Marquis Eaton had 18 points as Arkansas State edged Mississippi Valley State 82-77 on Saturday.

Desi Sills added 17 points for the Red Wolves (7-2), who won their fourth straight game. Norchad Omier pitched in with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Keyon Wesley scored 10.

Caleb Hunter had 20 points for the winless Delta Devils (0-8). Gary Grant added 18 points and David McCoy scored.

Thursday FNB Shootout results

PARAGOULD — Paragould and Batesville were the winners Thursday on the first night in senior girls’ basketball at the First National Bank Shootout.

Paragould, the host school, defeated Brookland 65-34. Carson DeFries scored 18 points, Keimauri Brown 17 and Sam Wood 12 for the Lady Rams, who led 13-8 after the first quarter, 29-13 at halftime and 47-27 after the third quarter.

Neely Coggins led Brookland with eight points.

Batesville edged Greene County Tech 59-58 on Abby Hurley’s free throws in the final minute. Taylor Rush scored 23 points to lead the Lady Pioneers, hitting six 3-pointers, and Olivia Everetts added 13.

Kylie Stokes scored 24 points for GCT (5-2). Ava Carter added 11 points and Sierrah Floyd eight for the Lady Eagles, who led 52-44 after outscoring the Lady Pioneers 22-13 in the third quarter.

Hoxie 59, CRA 45

HOXIE — Hoxie took a 10-point halftime lead Thursday and went on to defeat Crowley’s Ridge Academy 59-45 in senior boys’ basketball.

Mason Woodard scored 18 points and Cade Forrester added 15 for the Mustangs (2-2). Hoxie led 30-20 at halftime and 45-34 after the third quarter.

Sam Marshall scored 15 points to lead CRA.
